The City of Boise, Idaho
Boise is a small city of 210,000 people, with another 300,000 living in surrounding communities.
Located in the heart of Idaho, this city is a center of trade and transportation for the area. The
residents of the city enjoy one of the lowest costs of living in the Western United States. The Boise
River Greenbelt runs through downtown Boise, giving resident the opportunity to stretch their legs
along a developed series of scenic walking trails. Other attractions include the Old Idaho
Penitentiary and the World Museum of Birds of Prey.
Homes in Boise, ID
The average price for homes for sale in Boise is in the mid $200,000 range. Boise real estate is affordable and available to the first time home buyer and the experienced real estate investor.
Garden City is north and east of downtown Boise. The Garden City real estate market is brimming with
new condo and townhouse developments, as well as newly constructed homes. Smaller homes for sale in Garden City enter the market in the high $100,000 range. For homes with 2000 square feet, the price increases to $400,000.
The Boise Bench offers home buyers the greatest potential to find a real estate bargain. This neighborhood
extends west from downtown Boise, and consists of two and three bedroom homes built at the end of WWII,
as well as ranch style homes built during the Seventies. Average sale prices of Boise Bench real estate is just under $200,000.
Northeast Boise is the upscale real estate market for the city. This neighborhood is bracketed
by the Quail Hollow Golf Club and the Crane Creek Country Club and includes the communities of Collister,
Highlands and Boise Hills Village. Average listing prices for homes in Northeast Boise are in the
$400,000 range.
&t Boise, ID Schools
The Boise Independent School District and the Meridian Joint School District are the Boise
metropolitan area's public schools. The Boise School District hosts the annual History and Social
Sciences Conference which attracts educators from Princeton and Duke Universities. Many private
schools are available to Boise students, including the Bishop Kelly High School, Crown Ridge Academy,
and the Meridian Charter High School. ITT Technical Institute and Boise State University have campuses
in the city. The Boise State campus is in the heart of downtown Boise, just across the river from
Julia Davis Park.

In 2006, Boise scored fourth in Forbes magazines list of the best cities for business. National
businesses in Boise include Hewlett-Packard, Citicorp and DirecTV. Smaller companies fare well
